David Wylde Project Finance (DWPF) specialise in structuring and arranging project finance, particularly for Private Finance Initiatives (PFI) and Public Private Partnerships (PPP).
![]()
Founded in 1998, they have become market leaders in finance structuring, working closely with their clients, project teams and associated third parties to ensure budgets are adhered to and projects are delivered on time. Their commitment to delivering this level of service has earned them awards for their advice to clients on both PPP and PFI projects.
DWPF's requirements for a data room
The PFI and PPP projects involve either a consortium or partnership of businesses and organisations who collectively tender their services for the particular project. Bid processes for these projects can typically last two to five years. During this time an ability to gather and disseminate information across the involved parties is essential to avoid replication and maximise use of resources.
DWPF identified a requirement for online 'data rooms' for such projects with the following key features:
- securely accessible from any internet connected device, regardless of the local corporate network
- access control and version control for shared files and folders
- straightforward and easy for users to interact with
- provided with comprehensive support and management
- located in a secure data centre, backed up and replicated to ensure maximum level of service
- facility to add new users and parties with minimal delay or disruption
- data secured in transit and protected from malicious attacks and system corruptions
- commercial flexibility to commence and terminate the service at any time
- easily upgradeable without further technology costs incurred
Extrasys's solution
Extrasys was able to put together a solution that meets all DWPF's technological and commercial requirements.
Extrasys configured a version of its Hosted SharePoint product with just the functionaliity required for a data room. In addition Information Rights Management technology was used so that documents downloaded from the web server are encrypted and can only be opened, printed and edited by the recipient.
Customer endorsement:
"Our customers are large financial institutions, meaning the security of their data is of the highest priority. Therefore the provision of the data room from Extrasys as a secure managed service is a highly effective way of meeting all the stakeholder requirements. The data room enables us to enhance the solution that we provide our clients without us having to invest significant resource into the management of complex IT. As a business we found Extrasys to be professional, flexible and easy to deal with."
