The Laureus World Sports Awards, established in 1999, are awarded annually to sportspeople who have been outstanding during the previous year. Extrasys have been providing Laureus's media department with IT services since 2004.

In the process, Extrasys has transformed Laureus's information management and contact processes from an old, inefficient and labour intensive system to a true state-of-the-art procedure. The result is the Laureus Communications Management System.
Features and benefits of the bespoke LCMS
Laureus use the LCMS to manage and communicate with a huge database of international contacts. The system affords unlimited levels of categorisation, labelling and reporting so that, for example, it is easy to find all the Russian football photographers who voted in 2005 but not in 2007.
The application can send out personalised emails and/or faxes to thousands of contacts at a time, and the number of voters is up by more than 150 per cent since Extrasys began to work on it. Previously faxing, for example, was all done manually by temporary staff in the run up to the awards, but now Laureus's media team can do this automatically with a single mouse click.
